Lot consists of: Gun (A) single shot swing-out Southerner deringer manufactured by Brown of Newbury, Massachusetts. Manufactured from 1866 to 1873. This is one of the finest examples of these pistols we have ever seen. Rare iron frame version that is case colored along with hammer, with a blued barrel and walnut grips. CONDITION: Retains nearly all of its original factory finish with near mint nitre blue screws. There is some light corrosion in bore, almost as if it was not cleaned after test firing. Best outward condition example we have ever seen. Gun (B) Williamson single shot Deringer invented by David Williamson and made by Moore's. The .41 Rimfire has an adapter chamber for .41 percussion, which is present. The blued barrel has an arrow with the stamp of manufacture. All metal parts are engraved and nickel plated. CONDITION: Barrel is a soft blue-brown patina. 75% original nickel. Checkered walnut stocks are excellent. Clean bore. Very lovely example of a rarely seen deringer. This is an extremely fine pair of mid-19th century deringers in great condition. It would be a great starting point for a .41 rimfire deringer collection.
