Factory letter states this rare .38-55 carbine was shipped April 15th, 1898 as a standard .38-55 carbine and was returned and repaired on September 23rd, 1901. Features full round barrel, full magazine, twin barrel bands, German nickel post front sight, express folding rear sight, blued finish, walnut stock, saddle ring and stud, and curved steel buttplate. CONDITION: Barrel and tube are a pleasing mix of blue-brown patina, as are bands. Sharp barrel address. Frame retains 85-90% original blue, thinning on top and bottom. Strong case colors on hammer and lever. Case colors have darkened on buttplate. Stock is very good with oil finish, proud to metal, with a few handling marks. Bright, shiny bore. Fine action. Beautiful, untouched example of a turn of the last century Model 1894. Extremely difficult to find any antique serial range .38-55 carbine and this is one of the better ones.
