This extremely rare Bill Scagel Camp Ax was purchased directly from William "Bill" Scagel by the consignor's father and has remained with the family until now. Bill Scagel, who is known as the Grandfather of American custom knife makers, crafted this outstanding one piece Camp Ax in the 1930's. Bill Scagel knives are recognized as being the some of the most desired custom cutlery ever made and the rare Camp Ax is rarely ever seen much less offered for public sale. This example is 12-1/8" overall. It has renown double Kris stamps with Scagel’s name stamp in between the two Kris stamps. Wonderful two piece stag grip panels retained by six nickel silver pins and a single lug guard of similar nickel silver with a buttcap/plate of the same nickel silver. As previously stated this Scagel Ax has never before been offered for sale and comes from the original purchasers family. CONDITION: Ths ax is as close to mint as possible, with the exception of a narrow stain that runs down the side. No evidence of use, sharpening or cleaning is present. All Scagel axes are rare. This is only the second Scagel Camp Ax known to have been offered in recent history. TDW
