Extremely nice condition and highly popular M3A1 “Grease Gun” as manufactured by Ithaca for use by the U.S. Military. One original 30 round magazine is included. Typical “Ithaca Gun Co., Inc,” on left side of magazine housing with US serial number. Also visible on the magazine housing is the U.S. Eagle under three stars within-a-square logo indicating post-World War II manufacture. The M3A1 cocks by the firer using their thumb to withdraw the bolt to the rear once the ejection port cover is opened. This was a refinement of the M3 machine gun which used a lever to cock the bolt. The M3 and M3A1 Grease guns are extremely comfortable and accurate machine guns to shoot, and are particularly sought after by collectors, and shooters. As a pre-86 dealer sample, this gun can be retained privately when an active FFL/SOT dealer in a "sole proprietor" status relinquishes their license, subject to any State and local restrictions, and upon BATF approval. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent original smooth gray finish on the gun with near excellent deep blue original finish on the magazine. About 60% black enamel paint finish on extendable shoulder loop remaining with some loss reveal a brown patina. Bore is very fine with shiny lands and some roughness in the grooves. Bolt is also is very fine. Mechanics are crisp and positive. This is a full-auto only machine gun. A great find for the active FFL/SOT dealer. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS TRANSFERABLE AS A PRE-86 DEALER SAMPLE ONLY TO ACTIVE CURRENT FFL/SOT DEALERS ON AN ATF FORM 3 ONLY.
