This gigantic back action lock hammer gun is monstrous! It was built with a Jones Underlever rotary opener which is itself nicely scroll engraved at the knob. Splinter forend with wedge fastener is nearly full coverage checkered in point pattern with border engraved steel tip. The 38" Laminated barrels are marked with proofs on bottoms and also stamped "Not for Ball". The action is lightly border engraved and locks are engraved "R.B. Rodda & Co". Gun was made with double triggers, extractors, and no safety. Top rib marked with makers name and address which is partially obliterated. Large straight grip buttstock is checkered in point pattern through the wrist with long trigger guard tang and silver oval near toe and terminates with a decaying Silvers type recoil pad that appears to be of the period and possibly original to the gun. CONDITION: Very good showing moderate to heavy usage. The barrels retain about 30% of their original pattern. Bores with some pitting, particularly ahead of chambers. Forend is very good with handling marks and one older mark near wedge which was rather deep. Action has turned mostly a brown-grey tone with no original finish remaining. Buttstock appears sound with hunting marks, and some wear to checkering. Pad is crystallized, mushrooming, and deteriorating. Mechanics are fine. This is one impressive big bore, most of which are in poor condition and restored while this one appears mostly original and as found.
