Early style bowie with heavy clip point blade about 5/32" thick, marked on ricasso JONATHAN CROOKES with his famous heart and pistol trademark. Studded ebony grip of waisted form, mounted in nickel silver. No sheath. A rare and desirable style. c.1830s. CONDITION: Blade worn, pitted, and cleaned, the handle split across with a couple of additional cracks, the guard slightly bent and the pommel cap likely replaced.
