Lot consists of two Luftwaffe Officer swords: (A) and (B). (A) The 29" chrome plated blade is marked "E.F. Horster", has light runner marks, with a couple of light nicks on one edge. The early nickel plated cross guard and pommel retain about 85% of their original finish, with scattered marks. The blue leather grip retains 90-95% of its finish, and is wound with two strands of twisted wire. The blue leather wrapped steel scabbard has scattered marks, with about 12" is its edge damaged, and a 1/2" area exposing the steel core. The plated scabbard throat, rings, and tip retain 85-90% of their original finish, with a nice patina, mild freckling, and a couple of minor dents on the tip. The original hanger is present in 95% condition. CONDITION: Blade is excellent +, fittings are excellent, and scabbard is very good + to excellent. Overall condition is excellent. (B) The 28" chrome plated blade is marked "W.K.C, Waffenfabrik Solingen", has moderate runner marks, with rough edges, with about 10% of its blade exhibiting freckling. The blade is warped approximately 1" in the middle. The early nickel plated cross guard and pommel retain about 80% of their original finish, with scattered marks, minor freckling, and a 1" dent to one side of the pommel emblem. The blue leather grip retains 90% of its finish, with four 1/4" areas of damage, and is wound with two strands of twisted wire. The leather is missing from its steel scabbard, has been painted black, and was bent and cracked, with a repair 12" from the tip. The plated scabbard throat, rings, and tip retain 70% of their original finish, with patina, mild freckling, and its two throat screws missing. The original hanger is present, with one loop broken, and in 65-70% condition. CONDITION: Blade is very good+, fittings are excellent, and scabbard is fair. Overall condition is good to very good.
