Lot consists of: (A) Offered is this World War I German offensive disk grenade, the Discushandgranate 1915. The pressed steel body has been opened at the crimp points and is not resealed, but is in very good condition, with no dents and very light surface corrosion. One of the brass end screws is missing, as is the safety pin and pull ring. (B) World War I German stick grenades went through a constant evolution until 1917, and earlier models are found in many variations. They are not generally identified by model, but year of use. This 1916 Stick had the large head with the standard “Wilhelm” type stick. It is missing the end cap on the handle and there is minor damage on the head. The belt hook is intact, the grenade is in good condition. The body has a fitted wooden block occupying one third of the interior for unknown purposes, it may have been to add weight for training or display purposes. (C) An interesting variation to the World War I German stick grenade is this Kugelkopft Grenade, also described as the Stielhandgranate 1915 Percussion. Using nearly the exact same assembly as the defensive version, this grenade uses the Kugel 1913 body, with the stick and lever release to free the impact firing pin. This grenade is in mixed condition, with the Kugel head in very good to fine condition and the stick in good to very good condition. The lever is complete and better than average, with the safety pin and ring attached. There are dings and gouges in the handle and the steel connection ring is heavily worn.
