Revolutionary War era. Slightly curved steel blade with narrow single fuller, spine stamped "25 R." Two-piece cast brass hilt with heart-shaped guard with integral quillon. Turned grip, pommel with integral capstan. Knucklebow attached with brass screw to pommel in the typical continental style of construction. Complete with leather scabbard. CONDITION: Blade retains a grey patina with some spotting and a few minor nicks to edge. Hilt shows some wear and marks from use, mellow patina. Scabbard shows some shrinkage at top and some of seem towards tip has unraveled, possibly a more contemporary addition to sword.
