35 - 1/2" long blade with wide central fuller stamped with Birmingham in lozenge on left and right sides. Pommel of urn shape. Basket with nine branches. Fish skin grip wrapped with braided copper wire (now sprung). CONDITION: Patinated overall but sword is very tight and was probably never taken apart. This is the type of sword carried by British troopers from the early 18th century and on into the French and Indian and Revolutionary Wars. PROVENANCE: FORMER COLLECTION OF THE NELSON-ATKINS MUSEUM OF ART.
