Lot consists of: (A) A beautiful set of three medium sized fighters, the first knife displays its original double edge with "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" signature etch. The hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters is accented with the tapered full tang, dovetailed and pinned blue dyed burlwood handles and red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: As new, with a handling mark on the mark side scale, as well as slight shrinkage of the burlwood scales. (B) The second of three medium sized fighters, this one displays its original double edge, "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" signature etch, and hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters. The tapered full tang is surrounded by dovetailed and pinned black Kudu horn handles with red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: As new, with a small chip in reverse side scale at the bolster, and slight shrinkage of the horn scales. (C) The last of three medium sized fighters, this knife displays its original double edge, "Ron Gaston" over "Woodruff, SC" signature etch, and hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters. The tapered full tang features a unique set of dovetailed and pinned palmwood handles with red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: The knife is unused, but the handles have slightly shrunk, resulting in two cracks on the mark side scale, with one crack missing some handle material. In addition, there is one small crack on the reverse side scale. Ron Gaston of Woodruff, South Carolina was a knifemaker for close to 25 years when he passed away in 2006. A dairy farmer by trade, Mr. Gaston became an extremely prolific maker and was featured within many cutlery publications at the height of his career. A proud member of the Knifemakers' Guild, his knives are very well established and continue to be collected around the world.
