Lot consists of: (A) One of two beautiful large trailing point skinners, showing its original edge and hand rubbed finish with stylized "Montjoy" etch. The engraved bolsters are marked "JRF 2010", and the fileworked full tapered tang is complimented by reddish brown burlwood handles secured with mosaic pins and red liners. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife, the handles have slightly shrunk, resulting in a large pin crack along with a large diagonal, full width crack on the mark side of the knife. (B) Two of two beautiful large trailing point skinners, showing its original edge and hand rubbed finish with stylized "Montjoy" etch. The fileworked and full tapered tang is enhanced by the engraved bolsters, green dyed burlwood handles, red liners and mosaic pins. No sheath. CONDITION: The knife presents as new with slight shrinkage of the handles, and there are rub marks and some slight scuff marks on the rear of the blade. Claude Montjoy of Clinton, South Carolina was a knifemaker for almost 30 years when he passed away in 2011 at the age of 74. A member of the South Carolina Association of Knifemakers, Mr. Montjoy was highly skilled in his craft, creating a large variety of styles and types including slipjoints, interframes, hunters and fighters.
