Lot consists of: (A) One of three drop point hunters with its original edge, hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters, with stylized "Montjoy" etch. Drop shaped handle with a pinkie recess at the butt, fileworked and full tapered tang, with mosaic pins securing highly figured and dovetailed stabilized burlwood handle scales with red liners. Handles include a lined lanyard hole. No sheath. CONDITION: An unused knife, the handles display slight shrinkage with a resulting crack at the lanyard hole on the mark side. (B) Two of three drop point hunters with its original edge, hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters, with stylized "Montjoy" etch. Drop shaped handle with a pinkie recess at the butt, fileworked and full tapered tang, with mosaic pins securing slightly green dyed, dovetailed burlwood handle scales with red liners. Handles include a lined lanyard hole. No sheath. CONDITION: The knife presents as new with slight shrinkage of the burlwood scales. (C) Three of three drop point hunters with its original edge, hand rubbed finish on the blade and bolsters, with stylized "Montjoy" etch. Drop shaped handle with a pinkie recess at the butt, fileworked and full tapered tang, with mosaic pins securing dark (almost black) dovetailed burlwood handle scales with red liners. Handles include a lined lanyard hole. No sheath. CONDITION: The knife is unused, with slight shrinkage of the burlwood handles, resulting in a small check on the mark side handle at the lanyard, and a crack on the reverse side at the lanyard. Claude Montjoy of Clinton, South Carolina was a knifemaker for almost 30 years when he passed away in 2011 at the age of 74. A member of the South Carolina Association of Knifemakers, Mr. Montjoy was highly skilled in his craft, creating a large variety of styles and types including slipjoints, interframes, hunters and fighters.
