For a similar example, see Figure 71 on page 39 of "American Silver-Hilted, Revolutionary and Early Federal Swords" by Daniel D. Hartzler. This mid-18th century diminutive sword has a tapered triangular section blade with a deep fuller in the center, on the back. The classic solid silver hilt has engraved initials "A * S" on the front of the clam shell guard on the left side. The pommel is ovoid with a round capstan on top. Grip is wrapped with twisted silver wire. Complete with its original black leather scabbard decorated with crosshatched designs. There is a thin silver throat mount and a silver drag. CONDITION: Very good, overall. Blade retains a polished surface with some minor freckling. Hilt retains a mellowing grey patina and grip is excellent. Scabbard very good with some flaking and crazing to surface. A very nice and early American small sword. DMG
