This is a Harper's Ferry made Model 1819 Hall rifle dated 1832 and so marked on the top of the breech block. This gun was altered to percussion in North Carolina for use in the Civil War by Confederate forces. It has been speculated that these alterations were done at the Fayetteville, NC arsenal. Properly altered triggerguard which has had the hand grip removed, exposed supporter ears, and conversion to percussion. Original offset sights. Original button head ramrod. Marked on the right side of the stock "50" & "K", meaning unknown. Both of the screw fastened receiver support chocks are missing and have been for some time. The middle of the three support arm screws is a replacement. Mainspring is broken as is common on these guns. Pin fastened barrel bands. CONDITION: All metal surfaces retain a pleasing dark patina with minor pitting. Breech block markings are worn but legible. Wood is good with dings and handling marks. There is a crack in the bottom of the stock between the rear band and breech block lever catch plate, and another on either side extending back from the support ears. 19 groove rifled bore is dark with worn rifling. Not in working order due to broken mainspring. GR
