This is one of 2 known examples of these very rare guns. Made by C. Robbins of Tioga, New York. Lock is most likely an English import due to the roller frizzen spring and waterproof pan. Lock is marked "C. ROBBINS". Iron mounted, with the exception of the brass lock screw escutcheon. Barrel is unmarked. Cherrywood stock. Swivel ram rod. This is the exact gun both described and pictured on pages 314 & 315 of Historic Pistols: The American Martial Flintlock 1760-1845 by Smith & Bitter. This is also the exact gun pictured on page 347 of the 9th Edition of Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Firearms. PROVENANCE: Ex- J.M. Wertenberger Collection. CONDITION: Gun retains a pleasing patina overall with some areas of old rust and pitting. Bore is pitted. Wood has some dings and scratches, crack in the left side of the grip. Hammer will only sit at half cock, does not engage at full. From the Robert Sadler Collection. GR
