There are three of these pistols known to exist that have been tinned and have a belt hook. In his book "US Military Small Arms" by Riley, he mentions that some were tinned, possibly for Naval use. Of standard configuration throughout except for the addition of a serviceable belt hook and tinned finish. The barrel is stamped US, JCB over P. The lock stamped "US, Robert Johnson Middtn CONN 1842". CONDITION: Barrel is polished bright. Steel mounts polished bright over pitting. Belt hook is consistent with the rest of the steel mounts. No visible cartouche on wood. Some raised grain remaining. Action is excellent. Bore is excellent. An interesting period alteration, possibly for naval use. From the Robert Sadler Collection.
