This medal has an elaborate suspension bar consisting of a cast / chased spread wing eagle clutching a panel reading "To Hon O'Neill Ryan", flanked by enameled Irish and Texas flags. Suspended below are crossed rifles centered with enameled an American shield. Under which, is an elaborate planchet depicting a cherub playing a harp within a crescent moon, on which is lettered "Souvenir". Left side featuring leaves centered with small diamonds. The reverse engraved "Emmet Rifles / Houston Tex / To / Hon O'Neal Ryan / St. Louis Mo / On His Visit To Texas". O'Neill Ryan (1860-1939) vice-presidents of the Irish National League of America was a well-known Irish nationalist until his death in 1939. Medal tests as 23 pennyweight of 14K gold. CONDITION: Excellent with near perfect enamels. DG
