Outstanding original four piece hickory cleaning rod for New Haven Arms Henry rifle. These rare rods were produced for the early Henry rifles that had a slightly larger trap in the butt to facilitate these rods. These early rifles included the 1st Martial series delivered to the US Government for Civil War service. These rods are well published in Les Quick's fabulous book "The Henry Rifle" and identifies this set as the early 1st Variation without markings. Measuring 27-1/8" overall assembled, and 7" (including male threaded ferrule) individual sections. The iron ferrules are properly pinned and have the correct chamfered threaded end. CONDITION: Superb original condition with very little staining or patina on iron. Hickory shafts are very fine with original varnish intact as well as being very straight and having not warped as is common with these rods. Original early pattern Henry rods are very uncommon and finding them in superb condition is a great rarity. These rods were a recent discovery in Colorado and have never been offed prior. TDW
