(2003) 28 - 5/8" Chopper lump barrels are engraved with makers name on slightly swamped, matted game rib. Barrel flats are stamped with 2003 Italian nitro proofs. Coin finished round bodied boxlock action features automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold), bushed strikers, and double triggers (front articulated). Action is engraved with complete coverage (including entire trigger plate) very nicely shaded and detailed interwoven grape vines, leaves, and clusters. "Abbiatico & Salvinelli" is on folded ribbon on each side of action. A very well rendered and detailed portrait of a Labrador retriever is on bottom. This portrait is signed "Max Galli"; this name also appears on a small band in front of trigger guard bow. Single beaded trigger guard with engraving to match, has serial number on tang. Dark, well marbled, stump figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 15 - 1/8" over checkered wood butt. Well cut point pattern checkering is at grip, and a gold oval engraved "DCG" is on toe line. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Gun is housed in brown leather case with stitched leather corners by Nizzoli, is lined in dark green cloth. A leather FAMARS label is in lid. CONDITION: Excellent, with evidence of very limited use, with only a few scattered light marks in all factory finishes, most notably a cluster of scratches 3" from breech end of left barrel. Mechanically excellent. Forend tip has been lost, with plastic steel replacement infill. Case is excellent with some bumps and scratches. Interior is excellent. Base price on this model is $49,000.00. The special engraving on this gun undoubtedly added a considerable premium. MGM28.
