Colt produced one of the finest high quality true to every detail Civil War musket ever made. This model 1861 is correct in all aspects. All metal is finished in the white with the exception of the proper blued two leaf folding rear sight. Barrel is dated 1861 as is the lock which is stamped US COLT Pt F A Mfg Co, Hartford Connecticut. Has an eagle on the bolster, two bands, sling swivels, full length walnut stock, and smooth buttplate which is stamped "US". Left side of barrel has the VP eagle head proof. There are none of the distracting Italian markings. About the only difference is the serial number, which is not found on the originals. CONDITION: Aside from a few scuffs on the stock which could easily be worked out, the gun is in near new condition inside and out. If you so choose, a fun gun to take to the range, especially at dusk!
