Very fine Winchester 1886 Rifle in the classic full octagon, full magazine configuration. Blued barrel with case colored receiver and two piece American Walnut stocks with crescent butt plate. The 26" barrel is mounted with sporting blade front sight with knurled elevator adjustable rear sight. Two line Winchester address on top barrel flat and 45-70 marked over the chamber. Manufactured in 1899 the Winchester 1886 was considered by the engineers and staff at Winchester to be the finest product they ever produced. These rifles were the first "HIGH POWERED" rifle that was successful and was unrivaled until the introduction of the 71 Winchester. CONDITION. Very fine. The barrel and magazine retain over 97% of the factory applied blue finish with very slight edge wear at muzzle. The case colors on the receiver have silvered with vivid colors in protected areas. The two piece American walnut stocks are very fine with generous amounts of the factory varnish remaining. Stocks are full sized and solid with a minor chip at top left wrist. The bore appears as new, bright shiny with very sharp rifling. The action is very crisp and tight and functions properly. Rifle shows very little actual use and is very fine. Comes with factory letter confirming configuration and manufacturing date. TDW
