Standard 1842 pistol configuration. Brass mounted. This gun is well marked on the lock with "PALMETTO. ARMORY./ S*C." surrounding a "spiral tree" with the lowest frond touching the trunk on the right side. Slightly later production with a worn Palmetto tree. Marked "COLUMBIA/ S C. 1852" at the tail of the lock. The barrel is dated 1853, as it should be, "P/ V" and a Palmetto tree. Also marked "Wm.GLAZE&CO." on the left side of the barrel. There are no inspectors marks in the wood or metal, conversely there are also no condemned marks in the wood or metal either. CONDITION: Metal has been cleaned at some point with light pitting. Markings are clear. Brass has a nice color to it. Wood has dings and handling marks with an old coat of varnish on it, there are chips out around the lock plate. Good mechanical function. GR
