By evidence of small letter "s" above serial numbers located on all major parts, this rare and unusual early Civilian Model Colt 1860 Army left the Colt factory in 1862 fully silver plated. Serial number 81307 is present on all parts with a small letter "s'" present on the barrel, frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. The 8 inch, .44 caliber barrel has a New York address. Comes "French Fitted" in a modern case, with an eagle flask, bullet mold, and nipple wrench. On page 348 of the book "The Colt Model 1860 Army Revolver" by: Charles W. Pate, other Colt Model 1860 Armies are identified in the 81299-81320 serial range as being "Plated", revolver 81307 falls in the middle of that known range of guns. CONDITION: Excellent overall, no visible abuse, serial numbers match on all parts, strong cylinder scene, cylinder retains approximately 60% original silver, barrel retains approximately 75% original silver, and the backstrap 5-10% silver. All remaining silver has turned an attractive silver/blue patina. One piece walnut grips are excellent with traces of original varnish. Overall a lovely and desirable Colt Army. -MKS-
