Very desirable German WW2 Raketenpanzerbuchse 54 rocket launcher complete with shield with spare sight glass still wrapped in protective paper within storage compartment. Also included are two ends of a vintage leather sling. This weapon was acquired by a now very elderly collector who registered it during the amnesty with an IRS number and displayed it for many years until recently. It retains stenciled “SA” markings from when it was at one time in Finnish service. There is an excellent video presentation on this model from a past auction conducted by Ian McCollom at https://www.forgottenweapons.com/panzerschreck-germany-makes-a-bazooka/
CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is good to very good Finnish green painted finish with moderate chipping revealing brown and grey patina underneath with dust from years of hanging on display. Glass vision pane in shield extremely fine, with spare present in shield compartments apparently still unopened in paper. Mechanics are functional with firing mechanism producing a nice “snap” when actuated but otherwise does not actuate mechanism at rear of tube. Bore has remnants of original WW2 German mustard brown paint with gray and brown patina. With the original paint color available within the tube this piece would make a good candidate for an external paint restoration to reflect exactly as it would have looked pre-May 1945. A very interesting historical display piece for the German or Finnish WW2 collecting enthusiast. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS A “DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE”. JWK 2019-10-200
