Extremely handsome original British Lanchester machine gun. Immediately recognizable by its brass magazine housing and classic profile, this model is the culmination of the Bergmann MP/18, and MP-28 designs as essentially copied by the British in an attempt to utilize less expensive materials and time-consuming manufacturing processes in the final days before stamped sheet metal machine guns became the order of the day. British proofmarks are clearly visible on the top of the magazine housing with a clear “15” on left side of stock. One Sten 32 round magazine. Number on top of receiver is “S230”. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is very fine original blue finish turning brown with attractive uncleaned patina to brass magazine housing. Mechanics are fine. Bore has very fine sharp rifling with some darkness just starting. Bolt is very fine. This is a full-auto only machine gun. This would be a particularly welcome addition to any World War II, or later machine gun collection, as well as a fun gun for the recreational shooting enthusiast. The gun the British fielded before the Sten. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS TRANSFERABLE ONLY TO ACTIVE FFL/SOT DEALERS ON AN ATF FORM 3 BUT MAY BE RETAINED BY SOLE PROPRIETOR FFL/SOT HOLDERS WHEN THEY RELINQUISH THEIR LICENSES UPON BATF APPROVAL. JWK 2019-10-39
