February 17-19, 2020 Field & Range Firearms
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/17/2020
Lot consists of: (A) 1846 dated Model 1842 US Martial pistol made by Aston. Standard configuration. CONDITION: Metal has been heavily cleaned with areas of pitting and loss. Barrel markings are no longer present. Lock markings, while correct, are too sharp and most likely restamped. Stock has been heavily sanded, no cartouche. Swivel ramrod appears to be a reproduction. Good mechanical function. (B) 1849 Model Colt pocket percussion revolver, made in 1866. Matching numbers. Rammer is unnumbered. The muzzle has been trimmed. Six shot. Single line New York address. CONDITION: Retains a pleasing patina with some light surface rust and about 10% barrel blue. Markings are clear. Grips have some dings and handling marks with a fair amount of original varnish. Wedge retaining screw head is broken. Due to a weak cylinder stop, the cylinder will over rotate when the gun is cocked. GR
