Serial number 196629, manufactured in 1861. Matching serial numbers on all major components including the wedge and loading lever. Desirable 6" barrel marked "ADDRESS COL SAM'L COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA". Left side of frame marked "COLTS PATENT". Backstrap inscribed "Capt. H.W. Deshler 15" Reg't O.V." Blue with case hardened frame, loading lever, and hammer. One piece varnished walnut grips. Housed in a walnut partition fitted case marked "Manufactured and Sold by W.Kidder" along with "Patent Apr. 1854". CONDITION: Fine overall with 90%+ bright original blue on barrel. 80% original blue on cylinder, strong roll die stagecoach holdup scene. 25-30% bright case color on frame loading lever and hammer. 30-40% original silver plating on trigger guard and backstrap. Original unmolested screws. One piece grips are excellent with most original varnish showing light wear. Walnut case is excellent overall showing light to moderate wear. Interior has an interesting label that reads "Alfred Woodham, Importer and Dealer in Guns and Sporting Implements of Every Kind, No. 160 Fulton Street New York". Overall a high condition Model 1849 with desirable 6-inch barrel and Civil War period inscription. -MKS-
