Serial number 154960, manufactured in 1875 at the Sharps factory located in Hartford Connecticut. Sporting rifle configuration with plain, straight grip oil finished stock and forearm with Hartford style pewter tip. Heavy weight 30" round barrel measuring over 1 - 1/4 inches at the breech marked "SHARPS RIFLE MANUFG. CO. HARTFORD CONN." and "CALIBRE 44" at breech. Blue barrel with casehardened receiver, hammer, and lever. Total weight of rifle 13 pounds. Military style casehardened buttplate. Globe front sight, R.S. Lawrence combination express rear sight and Sharps mid-range tang sight. Single trigger. Accompanying rifle is a Sharps archival letter dated June 21,1991, signed by R.L. Moore JR. MD. documenting configuration and being shipped to Sharps dealer, E.E. Eaton, Chicago, IL. on September 28, 1875. Letter goes on to say "The round barrel sporter is a relative rarity". CONDITION: Excellent overall with 98% original rust blue on barrel. Bright shiny bore with excellent rifling. Receiver show traces of case color turned a dove grey patina. Wood is excellent showing light to moderate wear with light dings a scratches. All original unmolested screws. Overall a very clean and desirable heavyweight round barrel "sporter". -MKS-
