(A) Colt U.S. Pattern 1863 percussion rifle. This rifle has been cut down to a carbine-like length by a non professional. Rifled bore. The federal eagle accompany this rifle and has the proper proof marks. Buttplate is original and is marked "U.S". CONDITION: Overall fair to good. Metal retains little of its original finish, and has a nice patina covering the lock and barrel. Stock was crudely cut down and has numerous dings, scratches and gouges. Bore is dirty with a fair rifling left. Nipple shows signs of extensive use. (B) Barnett of London percussion rifle. Rifle retains a proof mare on the bore. Barrel looks to have been refinished at some point. Stock has a nice Barnett cartouche near the butt. Brass buttplate and trigger guard. CONDITION: Overall good. Metal retains 75% of its original finish with generous wear and patina. Stock is very good with minor dings scratches gouges and dents. Bore is shiny with good rifling left. Nipple shows signs of use, but is intact and not deformed on the edges. Overall, a nice pair of percussion rifles for the range. JA
