(A) Springfield 1863 percussion rifle. This rifle retains its federal eagles on the lock and is dated 1863. The buttplate is also marked U.S. This rifle has been heavily sporterized with a nickel like finish covering the whole rifle. Stock has also been refinished with a clear stain. A crude "CSA" has been carved into the left side of the stock. The barrel has also been cut down to imitate a "cadet" model. CONDITION: Overall good. Metal is good to very good with small areas of wear and handling marks. Some freckling can be seen around the lock, most likely from firing. Stock has minor dings, scratches and dents. Bore is fairly clean with no signs of heavy residue build up. (B) Springfield 1873 Trapdoor. Manufactured approximately 1876. Rifle has the correct "V/P" and "eagle" stamps, as well as the proper proof mark. Stock has the correct "ESA Oval" stamp. Butt-plate is marked "US". Stock has been refinished at some point. CONDITION: Overall very good. Metal has light wear on areas, but still retains 75% of its original finish. Stock is near excellent, with minor handling marks. Bore is clean with generous rifling left. A nice pair of historic Springfield rifles for the shooter. JA
