Lot consists of a cased pair of percussion pistols with octagonal barrels, engraved on top flat "Lefaucheux a Paris". Patent hook breeches. Percussion locks that scallop very attractively with the rear the of the lock flat are lightly engraved with scroll. Hammers en suite. Fluted wood grips terminate in steel buttcaps with an urn extension. Spurred trigger guards with a protruding acorn finial, moderate scroll engraving. Forend with foliate designs on a punched ground. Rifled barrels, integral rear sights, wind drift adjustable front sights. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels retain much of an old brown, stocks retain much of their original varnish with visible craquelure, with exception of the second pistol, which has a section of varnish missing on the left side of the stock. Action of second pistol needs attention, will not hold on cock, action of first pistol works appropriately. Bores with plenty of sharp rifling and some scattered black powder abrasion. Accompanying pistols is an attractive case with accessories comprising two small wooden jars with old patches and percussion caps, a cleaning rod, a loading rod, nipple wrench, loading mallet, and powder flask. Empty cavity for bullet mold. Case is lined in green felt with a golden "Lefaucheux a Paris" in top lid. Brass plaque in lid is unengraved. Exterior of case with cracks and evidence of extensive use; revarnished. EW
