Likely late 19th century. France. Pedestal has a square revolving onyx top on a brass collar cast with leaftips. The column has two porcelain cylinders, each enamel paint decorated with butterfly-winged classical maidens; the first in a deep indigo flowing gown among trees, the second in a deep burgundy gown playing a stringed instrument framed by flowing shrubs and lavender Iris clusters. The pedestal is on a stepped variegated onyx plinth. This pedestal is in excellent condition, the column exhibiting a rich palette.
