Originally designed by Russia during World War II, the SG-43 sought to replace many of the outdated M1910 Maxim machine guns still in use during WWII. After the war, many SG-43 machine guns were exported and licensed to several countries, this specimen being an example of a Polish manufactured Wz. 43 (SG-43). The receiver was cut and reassembled from a parts kit by Wise Lite Arms. The left side of the receiver reads "WISE LITE ARMS BOYD, TEXAS/ MOD. SA43/ CAL. 7.62x54r/ S.N. WLA29-5013". Top cover retains its original Polish markings including the manufacturers marking, caliber, model, year of manufacture, and former serial number. Complete with wheel mount, bipod, and ammo can filled with mummified belts. CONDITION: Metal components retain virtually all of the reapplied finish, showing minor cosmetic wear and marks from use. Welded areas are visible, but blend nicely. Bore is clean and bright, retaining strong rifling throughout. Action is smooth and locks up tightly. Wood spade grips show indentations and marks from use. Wheeled mounted retains majority of its reapplied green paint, showing small scattered areas of loss, and is completely functional. A fine example of a Wz. 43 converted rifle. MW
