Being one of the first self-loading pistols the American market had been exposed to the DWM model 1900 American Eagle Luger was somewhat of international sensation. Sold by premier retailers nationwide with a production of 11,000 to 20,000 and a selected 1000 being purchased by the United States Government for testing and evaluation. Manufactured by DWM with a 4 - 3/4" barrel and chambered for the 7.65 Luger cartridge. Blue finish with script DWM on toggle and the United States eagle seal on chamber. Checkered walnut grips with grip safety. According to information from the US National Archives the known serial number range for US test Lugers was 6100-7100. This example serial number 6918 falls into the range and is NOT marked "GERMANY" as the commercially sold example were. No proof marks are found on the gun. These rare "TEST" Lugers are the first real consideration of self loading pistols for a major world power military sidearm. CONDITION: Very fine as expertly and masterfully restored. All blue finishes are as new as are the straw finished appointments. The markings are crisp and legible. Detailed disassembly finds the gun to be matching. Bore is slightly worn with strong rifling. Grips are original with rounded checkering points with a very small chip at safety lever. A very attractive and scarce Luger pistol that crosses many field of interest. TDW
