Rare and original US ammunition limber for the Indian Wars period Gatling gun. Very hard to find and in excellent condition. This example retains much of the original dusty arsenal green period paint on both the wood and black on the iron furniture. The original 1st U.S. Infantry crossed rifles stencil is also visible. All iron fittings appear to be present including handles, corner pieces and hasps. Undercarriage and wooden spoked, iron rimmed wheels and hubs are solid and sound with original towing tongue. Box has 2 heavy iron hasps for securing the drop front which, when lowered, exposes 96 slots for the Model 1874 caliber .45-70 Gatling Gun stick magazines. This model of limber was in use with the Army until about the Spanish American War. These are rarely offered on the collector market in any condition, and are much more rare than the guns due to the survival rate of wood items that saw heavy field use. Wheel diameter measures 46 inches. Box measures 45 - 3/4" L x 23 - 3/4" W x 19" H CONDITION: EXCELLENT.

This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made.

Condition: EXCELLENT.
