Rarely seen Model 1874 military style three band rifle. Most all of the entire production of these rifles were sold to Schuyler Hartley and Graham. This commercial sale resulted in these rifles going all over the world with examples found in France and the Middle East with patchbox. Round barrel marked "OLD RELIABLE", "SHARPS RIFLE CO. BRIDGEPORT.CONN", and "CAL.45". Lawrence patent rear barrel sight. Standard single trigger. Roughly finished walnut stock and musket style forearm. Blue barrel with case hardened receiver, buttplate, lever, breech block, and patchbox. Patchbox has military sub-inspection letter "Y" on hinge and punch dot on inside of lid. CONDITION: Fine overall with 98% heavy original blue on barrel. Traces of original case color on receiver and patchbox mostly turning a brown patina. Stock and forearm are solid and sound however, roughly finished. Bore is excellent+, bright and clean with strong rifling. Overall an interesting example of a scarce version of the Model 1874. TDW
