March 10 & 11, 2020 Toy, Doll & Figural Cast Iron
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/10/2020
Made in Germany for the English market. Probably made by Saalheimer & Strauss, the makers of the series of Mickey Mouse tin-litho mechanical banks. Marked on back "By Exclusive Arrangement with Ideal Films Ltd All Rights Reserved Registered" and also marked "Foreign" above back of right leg. Mickey has five fingers, which is unusual because most toys depict him with four fingers. This has to be one of the rarest, if not the rarest, tin-litho wind-up Mickey Mouse figures. Still has original rubber tail. When wound, Mickey dances back and forth and his cut-out pie eyes go up and down and his mouth opens up, revealing tongue and teeth. CONDITION: Only a few examples of this toy are known and this has to be one of the best, if not the best known example. Looks to be all original but does have what appears to be factory touch-up paint on front and back of red areas. For the serious Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse collector. From the Jeff Landes Collection. CORRECTION: Estimate updated
Condition: (Excellent).
Item Dimensions: 9" x 4" x 3".
