The Niagara Pepsin Gum co. manufactured this machine in 1904. It offered the patron a selection through a rotating four-column mechanism where a choice is selected by turning the column to the coin slot, when the coin is inserted a clock work mechanism delivers your gum or chocolate from that column. There are not many of these machine that have surfaced, but most others have a patterned glass windowed base where this one has a solid painted tin base. That appears to be the only difference, the wood base, cylinder globe and cast iron components all match similar Niagaras. This example is all original. The painted base has applied decals that have been on the machine for years. The wood base and center section are solid, the mechanism has some oxidation, but retains an aged patina. The columns have interchangeable signs identifying the selections that are original, and it comes with some aged tab gum for vending. With keys.
