A featured item from the famed Peter B. Blatter Colt collection, and formerly in the Austrian collection of Rudolf Pahr. Possibly the finest Austrian Brevette First Model Dragoon in existence. The nearly pristine condition defies the ravages of time. Condition, rarity and provenance comes together in this fine and distinctively styled Dragoon. Manufactured by the Maschinenfabrik Innsbruck factory between 1849-1851. Representing many Colt features while beautifully blending distinctly different European traits. The Dragoon shaped barrel measures 5-1/4". Left side of frame is stamped patent 1849. The cylinder is non-fluted, engraved, with silver bands. The case color frame is engraved in simple flower motif with scroll. The right side of frame is stamped with manufacturer. The one piece walnut grips resemble the Model 1860 Army type, having been stretched. Most all screws are flat head. CONDITION: Excellent overall with the barrel retaining approximately 95% original blue. Cylinder has moderate age toning at rear showing approximately 80% original blue. Approximately 85% original case color however not as bright as normally seen on American made guns. Grips are near mint showing minor wear. Bore is excellent. Action is tight and crisp. Housed in a period wood case with accessories. Brass powder flask, unusual steel bullet mold, two brass containers and nipple wrench with four extra nipples.
