Serial number 7002 manufactured in 1849. Matching serial numbers on all major components except loading lever and wedge, both are marked "7706". 7 - 1/2" barrel marked in one line "ADDRESS SAM'L COLT NEW-YORK CITY", letter "N" stamped on top barrel lug flat at breech. Letter "N" stamped on front edge of cylinder. Letter "K" stamped on front edge of trigger guard. Left side of frame marked "COLTS PATENT" with "U.S." stamped under patent, letter "B" stamped to left of patent. Roll die Texas Rangers and Indian fight scene on cylinder. Oval locking slots on cylinder. Blue with case hardened frame, loading lever, and hammer. Replacement one piece ivory grips. Brass squareback trigger guard and brass backstrap. Housed in an walnut partition fitted case with navy blue interior. Complete with powder flask, bullet mold, and percussion cap tin. CONDITION: Revolver is very good overall with approximately 15% original dull blue on bottom side of barrel and barrel lug, balance turning brown patina. Stress crack on muzzle end of barrel extending from front sight forward. Balance of revolver turning brown patina. Overall clean metal with little to no pitting. Brass trigger guard and backstrap a dark mustard patina. Action is tight and crisp. Ivory grips do not fit well. 60-70% cylinder scene visible. Case lid shows moderate wear with scattered dents and scratches. Interior shows moderate wear with fading. Nice mustard patina on powder flask. Bullet mold is fair with scattered pitting. Overall a clean and attractive First Model Dragoon. -MKS-
