The U.S. government contracted these carbines in 1864 and delivery was made during May 1865, following the cessation of the American Civil War. Manufactured by the E.G. Lamson & Company in Windsor Vermont. Only 1,002 were produced. .50 caliber rimfire; 7-shot repeater, operated by a lever that doubles as the trigger guard. The magazine tube is loaded through the receiver ejection port. 20 - 1/2" round barrel. Blade front sight and a fold down leaf rear barrel sight. Plain, straight grain walnut stock and three-quarter length forearm fastened by a single barrel band. Saddle ring and bar mounted to left side of the receiver. Blue with case hardened receiver, hammer, and lever. Varnished stock and forearm. CONDITION: Excellent with 95% blue on barrel turning brown patina. 50% strong case color on receiver. Wood is excellent showing moderate wear. Bore is excellent and bright. -MKS-
