Gun (A) is a German Potsdam musket dated 1831 on the barrel as well as on the buttplate. Many of these were imported both North and South during the Civil War. Brass mounted. Smoothbore. Has a modified Enfield musket ramrod in it. CONDITION: Retains a pleasing patina with areas of light pitting here and there. All markings are clear. Brass has a nice dark uncleaned look to it. Good mechanical function. Gun (B) is an 1863 dated Bridesburg contract model 1861 rifled-musket. Standard configuration. Missing the rear sight. Buttplate is marked with "24/ 84" which is most likely a unit marking of some kind. CONDITION: Gun has been lightly cleaned at some point. Uniform light pitting overall. Lock markings are clear. The barrel date is not longer visible due to pitting. Wood has some dings and handling marks, with significant burn out behind the nipple. Ramrod is bent in a few places and a little too long. Bore is worn. Lock is not in working order, missing the sear spring and screw. While the mainspring is strong, the cock does not engage. GR
