Lock marked "U.S. R. Johnson MIDDn CONN 1841." Remains in original flint configuration. 8 - 1/2" bright steel round barrel with crisp US. JH P proofs. One piece walnut stock with crisp and prominent cartouches. Swivel rammer. Mounts are all of bright iron with original polish. Lock is original deft blue finish as is breech. "H" sub-inspectors markings are observed on barrel, stock and trigger plate. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine with barrel and mounts being in their original polish. Bore is equally fine with little evidence of use. Stock is in prime condition with sharp crisp edges and only has slight bruises from period storage and handling. Lock plate finish is slightly faded at rear but is very fine. The 1836 Johnson has long been admired as the most aesthetically pleasing of all US Martial pistols, this exceptional example would be very difficult to improve upon. TDW
