A total of 1,001 of these guns were made for trials by the US Government and were the first of the trapdoors to feature a sliding bayonet. In the proper serial number range. Correct 1873 marked breechblock. Unique triangular sliding bayonet with proper catch mounted under barrel and cutout in stock. Remnants of the cartouche remain, all of which were dated 1881. Correct trap in butt. CONDITION: Very good with a pleasing patina, some light surface rust, and minor traces of original finish. Markings in metal are clear. Stock has been lightly cleaned, and because of that, the cartouche is only partially present. Bore is very good with strong rifling and some areas of pitting. Fine mechanical function. GR
