Extremely fine smooth lustrous blue Harrington & Richardson Reising Model 50 machine gun with 13.75" barrel with compensator. Long aftermarket 32 round magazine present is included as well as vintage light brown leather sling. This Reising is one of a number of guns which found their way into Law Enforcement use. Although Reising machine guns were fielded in limited numbers to the Marine corps during World War II, many police departments brought these into their inventories both during and after World War II. This particular specimen was at one time in the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, and is stenciled, “SHERIFF’S DEPT” above “19” in white letters on left side of buttstock, and cleanly stamped on left side of receiver, “DALLAS CO . SHERIFF DEPT 19”. This indicates the 19th such weapon they had at the time. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine original smooth lustrous blue finish with crisp lettering on metal parts. Wood is fine with numerous light handling marks and a little loss of finish in places. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face extremely fine. This is a select-fire machine gun. The Reising Model 50 is a handy, comfortable to shoot, and well-made .45 ACP entry level machine gun, and this one with its longer than usual magazine with certainly be a lot of fun at the range.
