Beginning production in 1921, a total of 54,000 Handy Guns were produced before the National Firearms Act in 1934. Due to their numerous (albeit small) variations, these were found to be popular firearms during their time, and are still found to be quite popular with collectors today. This Handy Gun is marked "HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON ARMS CO./ WORCESTER. MASS. U.S.A." on the left side of the receiver, with "28 GAUGE" on top of the barrel. Receiver, barrel, and forend are matching. The receiver, barrel, and other small components are blued, with the exception of the trigger and hammer which were case colored. Saw handle wood grip is checkered. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their factory applied blue finishes, showing some wear and nicks showing through to silvering, as well as speckling all around. Hammer and trigger retain traces of their original case colored finishes. Bore shows evidence of firing, but is otherwise bright. Spurred wood grip shows some smoothing to the checkering and some handling marks, as well as a crack and some losses to the wood on the spur. MLW
