Lot consists of (A) Sharps New Model 1863 single shot percussion rifle with 22" round barrel in .52 caliber with Lawrence patent 1859 rear sight and blade front. Lawrence patent priming device near breech. Barrel is marked "SHARPS RIFLE MANUFG. CO HARTFORD CONN." followed by "NEW MODEL 1863" near breech. Receiver marked with "C. SHARPS' PAT. OCT. 5TH 1852" on left along with "C. SHARPS PAT. SEPT. 12TH 1848" on right. Plain walnut stock with single barrel band, saddle ring, and rifle buttplate. Inspector cartouche at left of stock above saddle ring reading "JT." CONDITION: Very good with finish added. Metal parts have a mottled chemically aged patina and light handling and storage marks. Stock and forearm are good as sanded and finish added with crack at right of tang and numerous, dents, dings, and gouges from use. Action works correctly. Bore is bright with sharp lands and grooves and frosting near muzzle. (B) Sharps Model 1868 conversion carbine with 22" round barrel with Lawrence 1859 rear sight and blade front. Chambered in .50-70 Government with 3 groove rifling. Marked on right of receiver "C. SHARPS' PAT. OCT 5TH 1852" and "C. SHARPS' PAT. SEPT 12TH 1848" on left of receiver. Plain walnut stock with single barrel band, saddle ring, and rifle buttplate. CONDITION: Very good with barrel fading to a gray brown patina. Significant freckling and handling marks on left and top of barrel. Balance of metal components are a dark gray patina. Hammer has been polished. Stock and forearm are good with finish added. Wood shows significant wear with numerous dents, dings, and gouges. Several minor cracks in right and left of buttstock and on bottom of forearm. Action works correctly. Bore is bright with crisp rifling and freckling near muzzle. -TN-
