Shipped from Colt September 13th, 1878 to the United States Government in a shipment 200 revolvers. Henry Nettleton inspected Colt Single Action Revolver serial number 47724. Matching serial numbers observed on barrel, frame, trigger guard, backstrap, and cylinder. Blue with case hardened frame and hammer. 7 - 1/2" barrel. Chambered .45 LC. Barrel address has broken arm on the letter "T" of "PT" and the omission of hyphens before and after the address, as typically seen on this serial range gun. Sub-inspector letter "P" along with"'H.N." on barrel and cylinder. Sub-inspector letters "H.N." (Henry Nettleton) also observed on frame, trigger guard, backstrap, and butt of grips. One piece walnut grips with cartouche "J.E.G.", John. E. Greer Ordnance Inspector under date "1878" on left side and "H.N." Henry Nettleton Principal Sub-inspector on right side. CONDITION: Excellent with approximately 80% dull military style blue on barrel, backstrap, and trigger guard. Cylinder showing 15-20% blue mixed with brown patina, strong blue inside cylinder flutes. Strong traces of case color on hammer. Frame is mostly a grey patina. Grips are excellent showing little wear, appearing to have been waxed. Barrel and cylinder bores are excellent showing moderate abrasion. Action is tight and crisp. Overall a very clean and attractive U.S. Colt with desirable Henry Nettleton inspection. Accompanied by a new Colt Archives Factory letter. -MKS-
