A lot of speculation surrounds these known copies of Sharps Model 1853 slant breech rifles. Some believe they were built completely in Nepal, others believe the frames were built by Sharps, purchased after the American Civil War, eventually finding their way to Nepal and completed into functioning rifles. Others believe they were made by D.C. Hodgkins & Sons in Macon Georgia during the American Civil War, and are authentic Confederate used rifles. Our belief is these these guns are of Nepalese origin and should not be viewed as a rare and desirable Confederate arm. CONDITION: Good with a grey brown patina overall. Wood is sound. Action functions properly. Rear barrel sight is incorrect. Spurious D.C. Hodgkins & Sons inscription on barrel. Bore is excellent and bright. -MKS-
